At Legacy Pines Performance Horses, we specialize in performance horse training that includes both in-hand work and under saddle training.
Our in-hand work begins as early as with weanlings, particularly those born here, focusing on establishing a solid foundation of trust and respect. In-hand obstacle work prepares horses for trail in-hand classes and helps them acclimate to various stimuli on the ground, fostering their trust in the handler. This groundwork seamlessly transitions into under saddle work. Mary enjoys developing yearlings and two-year-olds in preparation for their upcoming SHIH classes at SHN, and she also provides show horse lessons that include trail in-hand experiences and calming halter sessions for added exposure.
Mary understands the importance of investing time to create a perfect foundation of groundwork before starting under saddle training. She ensures that this groundwork is thorough, never rushed, and that every step is carefully executed before the first ride. Horses are allowed to progress at their own pace, developing into their unique versions of success under saddle. Her training approach promotes a relaxed and happy atmosphere, avoiding the pressures of a hurried training program.
Please refrain from requesting a 30-day tune-up for your horse, as the answer will be no.
Mary believes that many problem horses are simply misunderstood and have been rushed through programs that did not cater to their individual needs. She takes pleasure in working with these horses, helping them return to square one to build a new foundation and partnership.
Trust isn't trained; it's earned.

As a trainer specializing in performance horse training, Mary understands the potential injuries that show horses can encounter, despite our best efforts to prevent them. After working with horses in training and facing issues that delayed their progress, she discovered her passion for rehabilitation programs for horses. Although healing does not follow a strict timeline, she enjoys assisting horses in recovering from various issues they may face.
If your horse is experiencing lameness issues due to suspensory injuries, or perhaps sacrum, neck, or joint problems resulting from an accident, Mary would be eager to help. Following an evaluation, she collaborates with her team of experts to design a personalized supplement and rehab program tailored to your horse's needs. While there are no guarantees in rehabilitation, many horses can return to successful careers.
All rehab horses receive Bemer treatments.
